9764!!! WTF

So, having now finally got a pc that works [and kicks my old one in the ass REALLY hard], I now have 9764 files to update. Oh the joys of installing this game again . So I'll be back at some point but when, idk.

Oh yeah.. currently 9233/9764 files done... 4%... this is gonna take a while.

For future reference if you've got a new PC or a new hard disk drive, or basically any sort of upgrade which means you still have access via disks or a home network to an old machine, you can avoid having to reinstall by:

1) Go to start>run and type "regedit"
2) Navigate to HKLocalMachine>Software>PlayOnlineEU (assuming EU client!)
3) Right click the folder, click Export
4) Save the key somewhere
5) On your new disk/machine copy your old install (via Dvd, network, drive, whatever!)
6) Go to regedit again
7) Import your exported registry key

Et viola! You've successfully transferred your FFXI client! If you've installed FFXI to a different location than on your previous computer existence, you can edit keys 0001, 0002 and 1000 to the new file path and itll work just fine, as if you'd installed it a fresh


Of course, thats probably not what you want to hear right now!
